Hello, Winter, is that you? Oh, Sorry, I thought it was still winter because Cassidy is sick again. This time she has croup. She sounds a little like a seal (ok a lot like a seal). The Dr put her on a steroid liquid for 3 days and we sure did notice a change after the first dose. We have been spending 20 minutes or so in the steamroom (bathroom) everynight before bed. That really seems to help loosen things up, and it also adds a lovely touch of frizz to my hair!! She missed Thurs\Fri from daycare (which means I missed work too). Hopefully by the time the nice weather comes I will still have some time off to use.

Spring Weekend

Here are a few pics from our outdoor weekend. Brendan had his first baseball game of the season and it was great! It marks the first time he is in a league that the kids pitch. He was the starting pitcher for the season opener on Saturday. He faced 7 batters, hit 1 and struck out the other 6. On Sunday he hit an inside the park homerun!! He finally will be able to show off his skills. Brady and Cassidy had a great time outside all weekend. It sure is great to finally have some nice weather.

This is the only decent picture I got of Cassidy on Easter. You get the jist of her dress, but she would not sit still long enough to get anything better than this. Cousin Brady sat much better though, even with his binky he still takes a great picture. We would love to include cousin Brendan, but he is 8 &1\2 and he doesn't let us take his picture anymore. Cassidy went to Chuck E Cheese's for the first time today, for a birthday party. She was terrified at first because it was so loud and to top it off the fake stuffed animal band was performing when we came in. After she adjusted she was able to give Chuck E a high five on 2 separate occasions and later ran around the play area like a crazy person. I think we'll have to go back again, but not on a weekend, or during school vacation week, or when it's raining.
At her 18 month check up last week she weighed in at 24lbs and 8ozs. The previous 10 days or so she had been under the weather and not eating much so I think her real weight may be a little higher than that days. She has really started talking alot now. Some of the things she says on a regular basis include, "cracker, juice, ball, book, bear, baby, up, down, more, snack". She is also doing well with people's names, "momma, dadda, Neeny (Leeny), Ma (Meg), RaRa (Uncle Bobby), MaMa (grandma), Papa (grandpa), Pa (great granpa), mamy (manny the cat). She calls her binky "mimi" and her blanket "ma". I have no idea where those came from. Lastly she has actually said her first full sentence (no, I am not kidding) "I want more". Naturally. Her animals noises are coming along nicely as well, dog, cat, frog, sheep, horse, bear and lion. I know I've been bad with the posts lately so I want to make sure everyone is up to speed.
We have been doing some more updating on the house the past 2 weeks. We put in replacement windows on the back porch and in the basement. We finally got a new front and back entry door and a new cellar door. We are midway through our interior renovations, having completed knocking out 2 archways in the living area and new counter tops, sink & fixtures, micro hood & cabinet and french doors in the kitchen. We are having new ceilings hung and all the walls in the living area and kitchen plastered. Once that is done we are putting new flooring in the kitchen and may either refinish the floors or replace the carpet in the living room. Last but not least a few minor changes in the laundry room, including flooring, new cabinets and lighting. Hopefully everything will be completed in less than 1 month.

Just enough time for quick story. While waiting at the mall for an elevator, Cassidy took her binky out of her mouth and without any coaching said "abre". For those of you that are bilingual that means "open" in spanish. I know we watch Dora often, but now I know she is really picking something up from the show.
